Let's map out some goals!

  • students find gamification fun, engaging, and motivating.

  • Teachers expressed a desire for group-based learning. They wanted a way to group students to improve the quality of learning.

  • Teachers also wanted a way to make data collected from Kahoot actionable… more meaningful.

  • They were concerned about students who didn't do well on the leaderboard and wanted to ensure all students' needs were met.

  • We also heard frustration from some teachers about having to purchase a subscription for Kahoot, but others who had done so found it worth the investment.

Digging into the research

With this data, I started to wonder a few things. What can I do to ensure that customers trust purchasing plants online from Miller Nursery? How can we establish the credibility in delivering healthy plants? What's the best way to showcase Miller Nursery's local identity to new website visitors?

To address these questions, I developed and prototyped mid-fidelity wireframes, crafted a sitemap based on card sorting results, and initiated usability testing. During testing, five participants highlighted challenges related to plant sorting (lack of clarity on most popular plants), text visibility, navigation clutter, and logo scaling.

Based on testing, I then iterated my designs and found solid solutions to each pain point! These iterations will give Miller Nursery's e-commerce website better functionality, while providing an exceptional experience for individuals seeking a dependable and local online plant shop.

With more time...

If I had the opportunity, I'd explore:

  • Another round of usability testing to have a better understanding on how we can enhance the user experience for the students.

  • Overlay for editing user (student) groups.

  • Make the photos larger and clarifying the objective of each Kahoot! game assigned to students.

  • Kahoot! Kids! Age-specific groups to allow for more targeted learning.
